During my working life, I travelled extensively around Australia, always staying in the major towns and cities. There are many places that I just quickly passed through as time did not allow for stops.
Now in retirement, my bucket list consists of visiting as many of these small towns as I possibly can, take lots of photos and write about them. Is your town on the list? Drop me a line and maybe I can come visit.
This will be the start page of many new pages for small towns of Australia. Here in Oz, these small towns with extremely small populations are colloquially called "One Horse Towns", but let me assure you, the reader, that there is a lot more to these small towns if you just take the time to stop and have a good look around.
Many of these places generally consist of not much more than a pub and a general store, but there is always a lot more to these places than meets the eye. Your best bet is to drop into the pub. Guaranteed that within 5 minutes, somebody will start up a conversation with you and within a very short time after that, you will have made some new friends. These good folks will more than happily put you in the right direction to find wonderful places and things to see and do within their locality.
I hope I can encourage you to visit some of them.
One of Australia's most iconic events. In a very remote area and not too be left off your bucket list
